INTERESTING FACTS PAGE

Some interesting facts about Benjamin Singleton are towards the end of his life he launched one of the first back-to-Africa movements in the United States. He was also sold several times as a slave but somehow always managed to escape. He ran a boarding house that frequently sheltered runaway slaves. He also tried to buy Tennessee farmland for blacks but that sadly failed when white landowners refused to do so at good prices.

CONTRIBUTION TO AMERICAN SOCIETY

Benjamin Singleton was a businessman best known for his role in doing something for his fellow African Americans. He helped them by establishing African American settlements in Kansas. He was also noted for being an abolitionist, leader of a community, and a spokesman for the rights of African Americans. I mainly chose this person because he wasn't very well known for his role in black history month. He definitely deserves more respect then he gets.
